Refund and Cancellation Policy
This policy covers money paid to Zenstu for a subscription. It also explains, at the end, why fees paid by a student to their teacher work differently.
1. The short version
- Try Zenstu free for [14] days. Nothing is charged during the trial.
- Cancel whenever you like. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Monthly plans are not refunded part-way through a month.
- Yearly plans can be refunded in full within [7] days of the first payment.
- If we charged you by mistake, we refund it. Just tell us.
- Fees your students pay you are not ours to refund. That is between you and your student.
2. Free trial
Every new account gets [14] days free, with no card required to start. We remind you before it ends. If you do nothing, the account simply pauses and no charge is made. You are only billed once you choose a plan and enter a payment method.
3. Monthly plans
Monthly subscriptions renew on the same date each month.
- You can cancel at any time. Your account stays active until the end of the month you have paid for, then stops renewing.
- We do not refund part of a month. If you cancel on the 20th of a month you have paid for, you keep access until the end of that month rather than receiving ten days back.
- We do not charge a cancellation fee and there is no notice period.
4. Yearly plans
Yearly subscriptions are charged once for twelve months, at a discount to the monthly price.
- Within [7] days of your first yearly payment, you can ask for a full refund for any reason.
- After [7] days, yearly payments are non-refundable, other than in the situations in section 5. You keep access for the rest of the twelve months.
- On a renewal, the same [7]-day window applies from the renewal charge. We email you [7] days before a yearly renewal so it is never a surprise.
5. When we do refund
We refund in these cases, whatever the plan:
- Duplicate or accidental charges. If you were billed twice or charged after cancelling, we refund it in full.
- Payment taken during a trial. If you were charged before your trial ended, we refund it.
- Extended outage. If Zenstu is unavailable for more than [24 consecutive hours] because of a fault on our side, you can ask for a pro-rata credit or refund for the affected period.
- We remove something you paid for. If we retire a feature that was central to your plan and you cancel because of it, we refund the unused part of your subscription.
- We change these terms or our prices and you cancel before the change takes effect. We refund the unused prepaid period.
- We close your account for a reason that is not your fault. We refund the unused period.
Outside these cases we consider requests individually, in good faith. If something has genuinely gone wrong, write to us and explain. We would rather sort it out than argue about a clause.
6. What we do not refund
- Part of a month on a monthly plan.
- Yearly payments after the [7]-day window, except under section 5.
- Periods when the account was active and available but you did not use it.
- Domain registration fees, if you bought a domain through us. Those are paid to the registrar and are non-refundable once registered.
- WhatsApp or SMS message charges already sent and delivered, where your plan includes paid message credits.
- Any custom setup, migration or design work, once the work has been done.
- Accounts closed by us because the terms were broken.
7. How to cancel
Open Zenstu, go to Account, then Plan, then Cancel subscription. It takes effect immediately and no further payments are taken. You keep access until the end of the period already paid for.
If you cannot access your account, email support@zenstu.com from the address registered on the account and we will cancel it for you.
Cancelling does not delete your data straight away. Your account is paused for [90] days so you can export your records or come back, and your Teacher Site goes offline during that time.
8. How to ask for a refund
Email support@zenstu.com from your registered email address with:
- the mobile number or email on the account;
- the invoice number or payment date;
- what you would like refunded and why.
We acknowledge within [2] working days and tell you our decision within [7] working days.
9. How refunds are paid
- Refunds go back to the original payment method. We cannot send a refund to a different card, account or UPI ID.
- Once approved, we process the refund within [3] working days.
- Your bank or card issuer then takes its own time, usually [5 to 10] working days, to show the money in your account. That part is outside our control.
- Refunds are made in Indian rupees. We do not cover currency conversion differences if your card is issued outside India.
10. GST on refunds
Where GST was charged on the original payment, the refund includes the GST proportionally, and we issue a credit note. If you claimed input tax credit on the original invoice, you may need to reverse it. Check with your accountant.
11. Chargebacks
If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us first. We can usually resolve it faster than your bank can.
If a chargeback is raised, we may suspend the account while it is investigated, and we will share the relevant records with the payment gateway and your bank. If the chargeback is decided against you, the outstanding amount plus any charge the gateway levies becomes payable before the account is restored.
12. Fees your students pay are different
If you are a student and want a refund for a class or a monthly fee, ask your teacher. Their refund policy, their class cancellations and their make-up sessions are set by them. Zenstu provides the software that recorded the payment, nothing more. If you cannot reach your teacher, write to us at support@zenstu.com and we will try to put you in touch, though we cannot decide the outcome.
If you are a teacher, you decide your own refund rules and should publish them where your students can see them. You can issue a refund to a student from the payment gateway's dashboard. We recommend writing down, before you start taking payments, what happens when a student misses classes, when you cancel a class, and when someone leaves mid-month. Most disagreements come from never having said.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Changes apply to payments made after the new version takes effect, never retrospectively. For material changes we give at least [15] days' notice by email.
